Indoor recall for excitable dogs — come without chasing
You practise a quiet indoor come in short sessions, then use it in the rooms where they actually ignore you.
Your dog hears come, then keeps going — down the hall, after a toy, or toward the door. Chasing them teaches the opposite of recall.
What you practise
- Start with a come across one quiet room, not the whole house.
- Reward the turn toward you, not a frantic sprint.
- Practise come away from play, then from the doorway.
- Never chase. If they miss it, reset the distance and ask again.
Come is built after attention is in place, then used around play and doorways in the last two weeks.
